Social Media Manager for Destination Marketing Organization
TITLE: Social Media Manager
REPORTS TO: Vice President of Marketing
Serve as a creative and strategic Social Media Manager to develop, implement, and manage our social media strategy. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for engaging content, a deep understanding of our destination’s voice, and strong analytical skills to measure and optimize performance. This role requires an energetic individual who can represent our destination authentically and inspire travelers through planned and spontaneous content creation. Manage Alabama’s Beaches Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn and special project social media pages: Alabama Coastal Connection, Leave Only Footprints. Oversee social media advertising budget and liaison with social media management company.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Eight plus years of experience as a social media manager or similar role.
2. Strong portfolio showcasing successful social media campaigns and content creation.
3. Excellent photography and videography skills.
4. Proficient in social media management tools and analytics platforms.
5. Strong analytical skills to interpret data and make informed decisions.
6. Creative mindset with a good eye for design and storytelling.
7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
9. Passion for travel and knowledge of Alabama’s Beaches is a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Content Creation & Management:
2. Develop and execute a comprehensive social media content strategy across Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram.
3. Create engaging posts, stories, reels, and videos that highlight the unique aspects of our destination.
4. Capture high-quality photos and videos, including live streams, to share across all social media channels.
5. Manage and curate user-generated content (UGC) to leverage authentic traveler experiences.
6. Manage social media advertising and liaison with social media management company.
7. Strategic Planning:
a. Collaborate with the marketing team to align social media activities with overall marketing goals.
b. Plan and schedule content calendars, ensuring a consistent and cohesive brand message.
c. Stay current with social media trends and tools to enhance our content strategy.
8. Analytics & Reporting:
a. Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as engagement, website traffic, conversions, vacation guide orders, email subscriptions, and direct bookings.
b. Use analytical insights to refine and improve content strategies and campaigns.
c. Conduct competitor analysis and market research to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
9. Community Engagement:
a. Interact with our industry partners to highlight attractions, restaurants, lodging, and nature in a professional manner.
b. Foster a positive and engaging online presence that reflects the destination’s voice and values.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Ability to communicate effectively, manipulate data, perform operational tasks, and operate office equipment.
2. Ability to lift 35 pounds.
3. Have dependable transportation and a current driver’s license.
4. Flexibility to carry out responsibilities on evenings, weekends, holidays, and to travel as needed.
EVALUATION:
• Three months after hire (probation period), then annually.
• Participation in regular departmental meetings, client services meetings and agency project meetings will be required as needed. All important touch points will be asked for input annually on the relationship management of their business with the CVB Communications Department by the incumbent in this position.
